I is for........ Inspiration

What inspires your writing? What inspires your creativity? Does it strike you randomly or do you set time aside for it?  I would love to hear where you get your ideas, and how your thoughts generate. What do you do when inspiration hits? Do you carry a pen/paper with you?  I am interested in your process. I am a newbie and am eager to learn.

I keep a little notebook and pen by my bedside and in my purse, and of course I have paper and pencils all over the house (I'm addicted to stores like Staples!). I get ideas everywhere: driving along back roads, conversing with family or friends, reading good books and watching good movies, playing with my nieces and nephews, so many things. Inspiration usually strikes randomly, but I find that actually writing inspires me too.

In his book "Plot & Structure" James Scott Bell recommends setting aside time to formulate ideas, same time once a week. I haven't done that yet, but it's definitely worth trying.

Good luck and thanks for stopping by my blog!

I read articles that interests me and they always have something in them that spark an idea. I find ideas everywhere. Someone says something or maybe a song or I see something on tv.
