Blogfest Blessings.....

I was challenged by a friend to blog about my 10 greatest blessings on today.  It's strange that it is today b/c today I am feeling bummed.  So I pray this exercice will help lighten my load.  Here is what blesses me....

  1. My relationship w/ God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit
  2. The Bible(although I have neglected it far too long).
  3. My hubby- I enjoy travelling thru life with him by my side, even the rough parts of life.
  4. Friends-both those IRL and Online. They have been so supportive.
  5. My ability to read, write, see, hear, taste, touch and smell.
  6. The Internet!!!!  Tis true.
  7. Getting out of the house on those days that I feel well.
  8. Church when I am feeling well enough to go.
  9. Laughter, esp that of children.
  10. My hubby!! Yes, I know I have already listed him but he is worthy to be listed twice. He has been my rock these last few months.  He is supportive and understanding of my illnesses and loves me despite of my limitations.

What blesses you?? What are you thankful for today?? I would love to read your thoughts!!

Summer Plans......

It's that time again.  Road trips, day trips, outing with friends and family, It's summer time.  This is usually the time that families plan and go on vacations.   Since Bob and I don't have kids, our vacations have been when and wherever.  However, this summer we will NOT be taking any trips,  since Bob is still looking for a full time job. No job means No vacation.  The one advantage of him not working as many hours is that I get to spend more time with him, thus always a reason for vacations.  The last little vacation was the bowling trip that we had already paid for before Bob lost his job.  Don't get me wrong, I AM NOT complaining.  Vacations  are luxuries and not a necessity.   If you get the privilege of taking a vacation this summer,  I would love to hear about it. If not a vacation, what are your summer plans?

My plans are to volunteer with the Big Brother/ Big Sister Program, clean my house, utilize our pool( the apartment complex-not ours personally), read more and try to start writing a novel.

Have a great and wonderful weekend!!!!

Bowling Fun!!!!

I had a great time this weekend bowling in the SC State Championship Tournament.  At first I was kinda scared.  I have never bowled in a tournament.  I have just been bowling on a league for a year.  I thought I just wasn't good enough.  I didn't quite comprehend the handicap part of the score.  So far, I am ranked 2nd in all events,  ranked 3rd for team event, and ranked 1st in doubles.  My average is 94 but I bowled over average for 8 of the 9 games.  My scores for 4 of the games were over 120. I even bowled 2 140's +.  I am so happy that I decided to do this.  However, physically it about killed me.  9 games in 2 days are rough.  The 2nd day I was hurting so bad in my left leg that I actually had to take pain killers just to keep in the game and not forfeit.  Today I am sore but not like yesterday.  This week I will rest.  I plan to take it easy for the next couple of days to allow my body to recoup.  I pray that all of you had a great weekend.  I sure did!!!

Have a fun filled and Blessed week!!!!

Bowling Tournament

My husband and I are in the SC State Bowling Tournament this weekend.  This is my 1st tourney ever. I am a new bowler.  I am going in with a 94 average, but usually bowl at least 102 or greater.  It's going to be fun.  I am taken the place of one member that had to drop out due to vertigo.  Now, understand this one point.  I will be hurting after I bowl. For one, it has been a few weeks since I bowled due to my knee injury.  When I practised it was killer on my body. Second, bowling usually does make me hurt with the Fibromyalgia  and Arthritis.  I will just take a day or two afterwards to chill.  I really enjoy bowling although I am not too good at it.  It gets me out. I use my muscles. I socialize with my friends.  I do have some "payback" time, but every thing I do has that. SO, I try to do a little at a time, then rest and try to enjoy as much as I can and not let my illnesses ruin my life
I hope all have a great weekend and I will post pics when we return home.

Leap of Faith

I took a leap of faith yesterday. I submitted my name to be a Big Sister.  I have always wanted to be part of the Big Brother/Big Sister program.  It has been on my mind and heart since I left my job.  I love kids.  My only concern is can I handle it. They suggest that you spend at least one hour every week so I thought "I can handle that".  I confess I really did not pray about it like I should have(that's another blog in itself).  The challenge is to find something that we both like that does not require extensive walking since I am unable to walk long distances.  I ask that you pray that if it is God's will, I will pass all background checks and interviews and that God will give me the ability to do what I need to do with this child.  I will keep you posted on the process.  Love and hugs to all my "blogging"  family.
